Checking Your Credit: Be Sure You Have the Right Score

Have you ever requested your credit score from a credit bureau? You need to read this.

Earlier this month, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ordered Equifax and TransUnion to pay millions in fines and penalties. Both national credit bureaus misstated the usefulness and value of the credit scores they sold to consumers. The credit bureaus gave customers a score meant for educational purposes, while implying it was the score actually reviewed by lenders.

A 20 Year Tradition Continues with our 2016 Loyalty Dividend

In the last week of December, I take a break from my usual routine. There’s time for home-cooked breakfasts, afternoon tea, and long visits with family and friends. This quiet intermission before jumping into a busy new year is a gift I give to myself.

Hanscom FCU is giving gifts as well. For the 20th consecutive year, the board of directors has approved a Loyalty Dividend. On December 31, Hanscom FCU will distribute an extraordinary payment of 2% of dividends earned and interest paid on most consumer loans.

We honored Staff Sergeant Sarah McDermott at a recent Lowell Spinners game through our Heroes Among Us program. She and her guests were good sports, posing for pictures and thoroughly enjoying the evening, including batting practice, a ceremonial first pitch, and barbecue at the Gator Pit.

Vincent Perrone Honored as this Season’s First Hero Among Us

Long June evenings are perfect for taking in a baseball game, especially from a suite with a great view of the park, along with some barbecue.

That was the scene on June 27 when Hanscom FCU honored Lt. Colonel (ret) Vincent Perrone, Jr. as our first Hero Among Us of the summer. He was on hand to throw out the first pitch at LaLecheur Park, where the Class A Affiliate Lowell Spinners faced off against New York State’s Tri-City ValleyCats.
