Withdrawing money from an ATM can be a convenient way to access your funds, but it can quickly become expensive if you're not careful. A recent Bankrate study found [the average combined cost of an out-of-network ATM transaction to be a whopping $4.66](https://www.bankrate.com/banking/checking/checking-account-survey/). That's the highest amount since 2019 and includes both the fee charged by the bank and the surcharge levied on non-customers. To make matters worse, the average ATM surcharge hit a record high of $3.14 per transaction!
