Military Saves Week: Your Key to Saving Success!

So, how is your savings account looking these days? If it’s not quite where you want it, consider recommitting to a regular savings habit. Even a small amount, saved repeatedly, can put you on the path to financial wellness.

Military Saves Week is coming February 27 – March 3. This is a program tailored to the unique needs of military members. At the same time, America Saves Week will help everyone with successful saving, establishing credit, paying down debt, and planning for retirement

That’s a lot of ground to cover – now is the time to discover which one is your priority and start there.

For those with access to the Hanscom Air Force Base, we have some free programs taking place in cooperation with the Airman and Family Readiness Center (AFRC).

Monday, Feb. 27: Stop by our information table in Building 1305 between 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. or at the BX from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. We’ll have information on savings and some fun things to test your financial smarts. You can get into the spirit by taking the Savers Pledge.

Tuesday, Feb. 28: Got a love match? Make sure you are aligned financially, too. Learn how to develop realistic financial goals and communicate them effectively at Matri-Money, a workshop presented by the Hanscom's Military and Family Life consultant, will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Airman Family Readiness Center, Building 1240.

Tuesday, Feb. 28: Estate Planning Lunch and Learn, 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Information and Learning Center in Building 1531. Estate planning is an often overlooked but crucial task. Learn how to protect your finances so loved ones have a more secure future. Come have lunch on us and learn from Eric Pritchard, an attorney with Brown & Brown, P.C.

Wednesday, March 1: Financial Planning Lunch and Learn, 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Information and Learning Center in Building 1531. Get lunch, plus a solid foundation in financial planning at this presentation. Learn about setting goals and evaluating your risk tolerance. Understand how income tax, retirement planning, and estate planning each influence financial decisions.

Wednesday, March 1: Children at the Hanscom AFB Youth Center play and learn with financial games and piggy bank painting. Open to current members of the Youth Center/School Age programs.

Thursday, March 2: Thrift Savings Plan Lunch and Learn. The Thrift Savings Plan is key to building a financially secure retirement. Bring your questions to our financial consultant. The seminar includes lunch, along with information on TSP investment choices, contribution limits, and rules for rolling over a TSP into a traditional or Roth IRA.
